Interesting Facts about Russia (Red Square, Stalin, Temperature and more)


1. Red Square – Famous Russian place of interest and popular tourist attraction, located in the center of Moscow has nothing in common with Communism, Red Army or something other red from the Soviet Period. This location appeared in Moscow many centuries along before USSR and was a traditional place where citizens met. Red or «Krasny» in Russian language many times ago meant beautiful. So Red Square means a beautiful square.
2. Near Moscow there is another one Metro, named Metro 2 it is a military closed railway which connects military bunkers between each other. Today it doesn’t work. Another one interesting object near Moscow is a huge prototype of Proton Collider near University of Nuclear researches. Collider has a ring form and is 21 km long. Though it doesn’t work today it is still secured and all main technical systems like electricity and ventilation are functioning too.
3. Russian Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin by his origin was Georgian. His name was Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili and Russian was not his first language.
4. In total Russia has the largest forest area in the world. Russian Siberian forests and the Amason rainforests are lengths of our planet.

5. Russian winter in 2017 is one of the coldest in the history. This time the Beloyarsk Region has already seen – 62 degrees below Zero (-79,6F).
