Famous Russians - Pyotr Tchaikovsky


Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893)

Famous Russian composer whose music works are today an integral part of the world classical repertoire.
He was a civil servant at first and then educated at Saint Petersburg Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1865. He also had close tights with the 5th Russian famous composers of the Might Handful who have been working together to create best Russian classical music in 19th century (all of them are also famous all over the world and we will give articles about them in our upcoming articles). Some of them inspires him for amazing fresh classical works.

It is important to understand that in 19th century Russian classical music has its own techniques and rules and differed seriously from European and Western standards.

Tchaikovsky’s life was not easy. His mother died early, he also lost early some of his close friends and had no success in long years love story.
Tchaikovsky’s life difficulties helped him to concentrate on his works and to write internationally famous works such as the fantasy-overture Romeo and Juliet, the 1812 Ouverture, Slavyansky Marsh and famous Russian ballets as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker. At the end of his life Pyotr Tchaikovsky was honored by Russian Emperor Alexander III.
